Climate change
Some people refuse to believe global warming is happening. Some say the government is lying and its all a conspiracy, others choose not to believe because they are afraid of the outcome, some say god promised there wouldn’t be another flood, and some say the change is suppose to happen. If the climate truly isn’t changing then why have the last 11 of 12 years been the hottest ever recorded? Why have sea levels already risen? Why has the average temperatures climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit since the 1800′s? Why is the arctic ice disappearing leaving animals in danger and low land at risk? Why has there been an upsurge of wildfires, heat waves, and strong tropical storms? Global warming is why. Africa’s highest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro has lost 85% of its ice cap in 100 years. Scientist say Africa is most vulnerable to the change. They predict the temperature will continue to rise from 1-5 degrees Celsius in the next century. This change effects the world in many ways. Temperature change will effect where crops can continue growing, food supply will be whiped out and land will become to dry to grow crops this will raise the cost of food and economic costs will continue to go up. Cattle and sheep will have less to survive on because pastures will be limited. More droughts are expected to occur, this will limit the amount of fresh drinking water and water for irrigation. The oceans temperature is also affected, this will cause stronger hurricanes and tornadoes. Because icebergs are melting ocean levels will continue to rise, this causes many problems. Low lands will be swamped by the sea, New York and Japan are already sinking. Polar ice caps melting cause three main problems. There’s over five and a half million cubes of ice, glaciers, and frozen snow, as it melts it will bring sea levels to 230 feet swamping and flooding countries. All the ice that melts is fresh water, this could change ocean patterns by desalinating ocean water. And finally it will cause problems in animal life. It has already effected 25% of species. It affects them because the plants and food they live on don’t adapted to the temperature change and there habitats are undergoing complete change as well, leaving them stranded for food and shelter which cause animals to become endangered. It is predicted that by the year 2040 the arctic poles will be ice free during the summer. More floods and storms will occur over time. Heat waves during the summer lead to extreme heat and less cold spells in winter. The heat will cause the spread of disease and increase of air and water pollution. Warmer ares will increase more malarial mosquitoes. Sun rays are also becoming more harmful through this process. Global warming will affect the future of everyone and everything. There’s many ways people can slow the passe of global warming. In schools teachers can teach and inform the students more at it. The most ways you can help with the global warming problem is in your home, you can help by changing light bulbs to energy star light bulbs, to seal and insulate your home, change appliances to energy star ones, Use environmentally friendly electricity, Use a push lawn mower instead of electric, use less hot water, adjust thermostat, unplug device when there not in use, and to use water efficiently. In the community people can plant a tree, drive less, and check tires. And no matter where you are you can always reduce, reuse, and recycle, stay informed and spread the word. Its to late to stop global warming but the process can be slowed, do your part to help save the world!
